News Release: Passing of Minda Anishinabie

NEWS RELEASE

March 5, 2010

It is with great sadness we announce the loss of well-respected and cherished elder, Minda Anishinabie.  She was 78 years old.

Minda passed away at her home in Sandy Lake at 1:40 p.m. on Friday, March 5, 2010.

Minda is predeceased by her husband Geordie Anishinabie.  Also, by her brothers Heidi (Katie) Fiddler, Albert (Mary) Fiddler, Margaret Kakegamic, Sarah Meekis, Edna Hastings and son Salio Anishinabie.

Minda is survived by her sister Virginia Meekis and step-brother Alex Linklater.

Minda leaves behind her children Pardamus (Colleen) Anishinabie, Annie Anishinabie, Lillian Harper, Areta (Ralph) Bekintis, Mark (Darlene) Anishinabie, Bobby Anishinabie, Mary (Peter) Goodman, and John (Ida) Anishinabie.

She will be lovingly remembered and missed by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

The funeral service for the late Minda Anishinabie will be on Monday, March 8, 2010 at the Adam Fiddler United Church in Sandy Lake.
